I picked up the latest Interweave Knits Fall 2010 and quickly found 3 patterns I’m got on my knitting radar. One that I had to knit, is the Leitmotif Cardigan.

I went with Fibernatura Mermaid yarn in Almond.

This cardi is knit lengthwise with an invisible cast on, the construction of the pattern also attracted me, it is a nice change from the typical top down or bottom up methods. So far I’ve got small headway.

I think the Mermaid yarn is going to be a great fit for this Cardi and the sheen on the yarn is extremely pretty. The yarn is a mix of 42% Cotton, 35% Superwash Merino, 12% Silk, 11% Seacell. It has a very nice feel and will do great with the cables. I’ll keep you posted, for now I’ll have to prepare for my week.

Happy Knitting all

Yes, I’ve got the itch, yet again, the itch for starting new projects. Don’t all us knitters get that inner itch that makes us want to start knitting every luscious gorgeous squishy yarn we set our eyes on? Or seeing that FO that just makes us want to cast on immediately? I have that, it’s an itch, as serious one, and can only be calmed by that lovely feeling of casting on. I should say that I always have that itch. I’m always juggling many different projects all at different stages. One benefit for doing that is there are times you have multiple FO’s, but there’s always that new cast on. So now I started a new pair of socks, I have a pattern I’ve been designing and now am knitting it. I’m pretty excited about the design & concept for these socks, they are different than socks that I’ve seen, at least I’ve yet to see socks like this. I won’t say that the concept hasn’t been done prior, because I haven’t seen all the tons of sock patterns out there, but I’ve seen enough to know that it’s not a known concept. I casted on two different toes, the pattern will be toe up, and I’m leaning towards the right sock, it has a nicer toe shape, while the left sock is too boxy for me.

I’m using the Pico Accuardi sock yarn, natural dyes, the color is “Lantern”. Now that I’ve settled on the toe I want, the fun part comes, the pattern! I’ll share more pictures as I make more progress. Of course I’m still knitting away on the February Baby Sweater, that’s a good knit for mindless knitting, its just repeat pattern continously.

Since FO’s have been touched on, I’ll share this cutey, which has actually been done for awhile, I just hadn’t shared it, my bad

This is one of the cutest little guys, a transformer knit, turns from a Frog to a Turtle. My kiddees are too big to want this, but I was like my inner kid deserves this. I carry back and forth my home office and my work office. He just makes me smile He’s knit with O’Wool yarn in two different shades, Jade and Periwinkle. I better get my rest now, Froggy and Turtle say bye for now

I have two new projects, both with fun new yarn. First is one of my new faves, Anzula. I found out about this yarn working at my LYS, there is such a great line of products. I already have some sea cell, silk, and linen yarn, yummy stuff, I’ll have to take some pics to share, and now I bought some sock yarn, called “Squishy”. It is seriously squishy and soft, they were kidding name it squishy. such great colors too.

This yummy yarn is going to morph into a February Baby Sweater, a gift for one cute little girl.

I’ll have this one ready by end of week, a fast sweater to knit, and the pattern repeat is easy to remember. I wasn’t too thrilled in the beginning because I had yet to make a Zimmerman pattern, which I learned it definitely different that your average designer. But I got past that, after a few weeks of over thinking it, and once I cast on, it was speeding along. I admit there are some mod’s I did though.

My second project will be some ankle socks knit with Pico Accuardi sock yarn, it is natural dyed and the colors have a nice muted look to them. I’ll improvise a pattern for these socks, not yet cast on, but once I finish the February Baby Sweater, I’ll get started. For now, here’s a look at the yarn in Lantern colorway.

If the pattern I improvise goes well and quick, I just may go on a ankle sock knitting spree! See you in a few days.

~Rocky

What happened to me? I’m sure everyone is long gone 8( But I’m back, I’ll make sure to win your hearts again! So, let the fun begin!

I joined and am mod’ing another Traveling Scarves group on Ravelry, remember this is the type of group you join, typically with at least 10 other members. You knit small portions of each other’s scarves and send onto the next. Before you know it, your scarf comes back to you having been a small seedlet last time you sent it, now it’s a full fledged scarf. I’ve participated in 2 of these prior and got 2 great scarves out of it, not to mention I enjoyed the social part.

Here’s a couple of scarves I just sent a few weeks ago, they really are pretty.

Aren’t they gorgeous? This group is lengthwise scarves, #78, and for the top picture, I added Fiesta sock yarn, in Rhubarb colorway, it blended in pretty well. The pink one I added Noro silk, don’t know the colorway, it really blended in well.

Ooh! And and FO, a fun and such pretty one!

It’s Mary-Heather’s pattern, Simple Things, knit with Scout’s Swag sock yarn in, ???, gosh!, brainfart! Ok, let me think, it is “Tidal Pool”, I think, it’s just beautiful. This was made for my spoilee in the Twilight Edward vs. Jacob Eclipse swap, Vberry. These are her favorite colors, some of them at least, and I swear, it reminds me of the ocean. It’s knit with the full skein of Scout’s wonderful yarn, I had been loving this yarn for so long, one that I had got in Scout’s Swag Sock Club from I think it was 2009 or 2008, not too sure on the date. I was so happy to send this gem on.

But wait, you think my present is nice, Vberry returned the favor twice over. This was her gift to me, an Ulmus! Just look at these colors! I absolutely fell in love with it and cant’ wait until the weather gets a little more chilly so I can strut this gorgeous thing.

I got real interested in a pattern in the latest issue of Vogue Knitting, Lutz & Patmos. What sparked my interest? A customer at the LYS I work at part time, Green Planet Yarn. A customer came in one day looking for yarn to make this gorgeous vest. We choose Katydid, a ribbon cotton, very soft and perfect for the Lutz & Patmos project. After that, I was stuck on it and purchased the yarn that same day.

I casted on 4/25 and seamed up the vest on 5/1. The seaming was a bit tricky with the stitch pattern for Lutz & Patmos. I tried it on, and it fit, but not the way I wanted it. While everything about the size was right, it just didn’t fit me. So I had a decision to make, add crochet border to lengthen it? I did want it longer, but having solid crochet edging longer than the 2 inches called for in the pattern didn’t seem right. I really did like the pattern and am very eager to wear it.

So what did I do? I ripped, all the way to nothing! I re-cast on last night and am making the largest size to get the most drape. I plan on wearing it with skin tight tops and teeny shorts Now I’m about 4 inches into the bottom half of the body, and moving along fast. The good thing about starting over is that I know the pattern inside out now, and there are modifications I plan to make to it. I plan on having this done very soon so I can share photo shoots for you all!

On a separate note, I’ll share an awesome yarnie goody, my “Mad Hatter” package from the Alice in Wonderland Sock club from Woolgirl.

As you may know, my husband had to have emergency back surgery the first week of January. It was a huge surprise to us, one minute he was fine, next minute he needed surgery. So we did the surgery and prepared for it, but we didn’t even think about the recovery time or what recovery meant. It turned into a 3 month stint on disability for my hubby and alot of personal loving nurse care from me for him. We were concerned for awhile but after therapy and regaining his strength, he actually returned to his job, in full capacity, in mid-March. He’s got full mobility and we do our regular running every other day. Were so grateful for his recovery, believe me we heard horror stories about back surgery. Anyways, the weekend prior to his return to work, we celebrated with a mini-honeymoon celebration in San Francisco.

Here are some pics to share:

I decided that I should start sprucing up my house for Spring! I went to Michael’s today with my husband, and gathered up a bunch of items for an idea I had been tossing around in my head ever since I saw this “monster” fake easter eggs on sale.

For, I picked out these White and Purple tulips, with some, Cherry Blossoms? Not sure if that’s what they are?

Then I got two of these

After some craftyness, with the help of my hubby, voila!

And then they both adorned my mantle, which needed some sprucing up

Some more shots taken by my hubby

What’s that you see laid out, it is my Elm Row in Scout’s Peach Pit, the picture doesn’t show too well, but it definitely looks good there.

I’ll be doing more to add that sparkle to my home, possibly a wreath next. Some real late FO’s to share, here is my “Mini-Noro” sock, made for the Reducio Swap Round 9 spoilee. I knitted an i-cord to make it so that you could hang it on a purse or something to show it off.

And lastly, my “Mini-Gryffindor sock”

Both socks were absolutely fun to make and I got some grunge board and made mini-sockblocker, and I got to buy a tool to make grommets in the Mini-sockblocker too, which was pretty fun to play with. Another mini-item is the “Mini-Knitting Bag”, that I made actual skeins with.

More to come, I’ll need to share my day in San Francisco!

~Rocky

It seems like Stitches West 2010 was just the other day, but some time has already went by and I fell short of sharing in some pics of Marisol and I. We met up again this year, but not for long, it was a short but fun experience.

This is us posing with out loot, of course my haul was not as plentiful as Marisol’s but it was enough to drool over for awhile. Here’s another great pic, poof! We turned into Addi Turbos!

I’ll have to share my loot a bit later, still need to take pics, I have other, small but fun FO’s to share.

First, really isn’t small, in fact its knit with Yowza yarn from Miss Babs, in Violets. It is Balsam, a lovely cowl, with a sort of Mad Hatter appeal to it.

Some other knits, made for my participation in “Hogwarts Knit and Crochet Cup”, as Arabella Slytherin.

Some magical flowers

The cutest scarf mark

I have plenty more stuff to share, but I think this is more than enough for now
