Celebration Time

As you may know, my husband had to have emergency back surgery the first week of January.  It was a huge surprise to us, one minute he was fine, next minute he needed surgery.  So we did the surgery and prepared for it, but we didn’t even think about the recovery time or what recovery meant.  It turned into a 3 month stint on disability for my hubby and alot of personal loving nurse care from me  for him.     We were concerned for awhile but after therapy and regaining his strength, he actually returned to his job, in full capacity, in mid-March.  He’s got full mobility and we do our regular running every other day.  Were so grateful for his recovery, believe me we heard horror stories about back surgery.  Anyways, the weekend prior to his return to work, we celebrated with a mini-honeymoon celebration in San Francisco.

Here are some pics to share:

Weekend in SF

Do you see that knitted shrug I’m wearing?  I’m so bad, I haven’t shared this FO yet, but I love it!  I need to take better pics so I can do it justice.

Weekend in SF

I just had to take a picture of this guy, it was so odd, he wasn’t scared of anybody.  I literally walked right up to him.

Ooh, it was St. Patrick’s, look at the bread in the shape of a clover!

Check out this little guy!  They had larger ones, but I just couldn’t resist me a wee-baby turtle!

San Francisco fun

Now this was pretty cool, you may have caught on my FB page.  I almost took a picture with him!

So what’s on the next post, some fun FO’s to share.  I’ll try to get another post out this Friday!

Random Shares

I keep trying to maintain an active blogging life, it's hard, I have so many things going on lately, and work has been busier than usual.  I have alot that I haven't shared, only because of time.  I always feel short on time, as I'm sure all of us do.  Besides being busy, I had also been fussing with getting a new design for my blog and an easier way to post and maintain my site.  I finally got a design I liked, simple, no clutter, and attractive.  For my blogging, I downloaded Windows Live Writer, very easy to use and works great with all blogs.  It’s so nice and convenient posting now, so you’ll be seeing alot more posts from me too!  For now here are some thing’s I’ll be sharing things at random, hence "Random Shares"....

Spring is in the air

I decided that I should start sprucing up my house for Spring! I went to Michael's today with my husband, and gathered up a bunch of items for an idea I had been tossing around in my head ever since I saw this "monster" fake easter eggs on sale.

For, I picked out these White and Purple tulips, with some, Cherry Blossoms? Not sure if that's what they are?

Spring things..

Then I got two of these

After some craftyness, with the help of my hubby, voila!

And then they both adorned my mantle, which needed some sprucing up

What's that you see laid out, it is my Elm Row in Scout's Peach Pit, the picture doesn't show too well, but it definitely looks good there.

I'll be doing more to add that sparkle to my home, possibly a wreath next. Some real late FO's to share, here is my "Mini-Noro" sock, made for the Reducio Swap Round 9 spoilee. I knitted an i-cord to make it so that you could hang it on a purse or something to show it off.

And lastly, my "Mini-Gryffindor sock"

Both socks were absolutely fun to make and I got some grunge board and made mini-sockblocker, and I got to buy a tool to make grommets in the Mini-sockblocker too, which was pretty fun to play with. Another mini-item is the "Mini-Knitting Bag", that I made actual skeins with.

More to come, I'll need to share my day in San Francisco!

Yowza!

It seems like Stitches West 2010 was just the other day, but some time has already went by and I fell short of sharing in some pics of Marisol and I. We met up again this year, but not for long, it was a short but fun experience.

This is us posing with out loot, of course my haul was not as plentiful as Marisol's but it was enough to drool over for awhile. Here's another great pic, poof! We turned into Addi Turbos!

I'll have to share my loot a bit later, still need to take pics, I have other, small but fun FO's to share.

First, really isn't small, in fact its knit with Yowza yarn from Miss Babs, in Violets. It is Balsam, a lovely cowl, with a sort of Mad Hatter appeal to it.

Some other knits, made for my participation in "Hogwarts Knit and Crochet Cup", as Arabella Slytherin.

Reducio!

Over the past week I received my first Reducio Swap #9 package! It's the cutest thing, all things mini!
My spoiler was Madrigal a.k.a. Isisonearth on Ravelry.

Reducio package from Madrigal

Everything in the package is great, I really love everything Madrigal put together. Just look at this Unity Turtle! My new familiar 8-)

I really enjoyed this "mini" swap, I look forward to joining it next round. My OWL was sent off early morning on Saturday, I can't wait for my Reducio spoilee to get her package!

Onto some "on the needles" news, I'm doing a test knit for Woolgirl, and received this luscious Yowza skein in Mis Babbs yarn to knit with. I'm knitting Balsam, a cowl.

I'm about 85% done with the cowl, it's a long cowl pattern. I'll share pics with it probably on Tuesday of this week. I plan to send this one off early this week. Such lovely yarn and you get 560 yds. in one skein! 2 skeins can make you a nice sweater or cardigan! You can't beat those savings!

What else is going on? Well, I'm interviewing at my job, need to find a replacement for my co-worker, who is off to start a new marriage in San Diego, so that's been interesting. Besides knitting the Balsam, I've also been putting together my package for my HLBOES spoilee too, which is due by end of March. There is one sort of mega item I need to make, but the pattern is taking forever to come, I'm really hoping it comes this week. I want to make this package extra special. I have lots of HPKCC homework to do, so there will be some crazy knitting/crocheting this week, ooh, and of course my OWL project, and then trying to get HLBOES stuff done too! I was going to compete in the Ravelympics, but I didn't keep on top of things so I never really got anything together. Oh well, next time 8( I'll be posting midweek with some new projects and news 8-)
