Pumpkin Stalking

Yes, it is that time, the best time of the year, in my opinion 8-) . My hubby and I, no kids 8(, went Pumpkin stalking over the weekend and enjoyed ourselves for awhile just taking in the ambiance. Look at these gorgeous white pumpkins!

Pumpkin Patch 2010

After a few choices of switching between finding the perfect pumpkins for each of us, we settled on these two:
Pumpkin Patch 2010

I just love the stem on my hubby's, the larger one. These will be carved as we get closer to Halloween, which means this will be our first year attending the "Halloween Haunt" at Great America. I can't wait to go and see all the ghouls and ghosts they've setup there.

Ooh, and on our way out of the Pumpkin Patch, we ran into these cuties:

Pumpkin Patch 2010

Do you see them kissing? I felt bad cause they were scared of us, they ran to the corner as we approached. I took two quick pictures and left them alone, poor things.

Some other cool pumpkins, kind of like the freaky pumpkins were these conjoined pumpkins:

I almost bought the smaller pair! And not to leave you without any knitting updates, here's this scarf blocking:

Fresh Bite Scarf Cowl knit with Unisono Worsted yarn

Fresh Bite Scarf Cowl knit with Unisono Worsted yarn

I knitted this with Unisono Worsted, this yarn is absolutely luscious, extremely soft to knit with, so be careful loose knitters out there. As I was knitting with this, several times my stitches flew off the needles, and I'm a tight knitter too. These are the fibery details for this yarn, new to the LYS I work at:

100% Merino Extrafine
100% New Wool
100% Laine Vierge
whit Aloe Vera and Jojoba
Made in Germany

Looking at this scarf block, it's pretty nice to see the slow gradient change in color depth, very pretty. This project pattern may not have been perfect for this yarn, but it really shows up nicely. I'm going to look for another pattern to knit, possibly in the round. I think the progression of knitting in the round will further enhance the color depth change vs. the flat & vertical knitting that was used for this pattern. I'll post tomorrow the final pictures of this FO, which include some interesting button choices.

Mystery Socks 2010 - Clue 2

I finished Clue 2 of this year's Mystery Sock 2010 from Through The Loops designer Kirsten Kapur. I really do enjoy all of Kirsten's designs and her annual Mystery Sock is so much fun.

Here's my progress pics:

I just wish I had a better camera to really show these off, but my camera is limited in the quality of pictures I can get out of it. Maybe Santa will give me a new camera this year ::hopes::

Yarn is from the Mad Hatter package from the Alice in Wonderland Sock Club, such gorgeous yarn!

Wool Candy - Mad Hatter yarn

And now I await Clue 3, set to come out this Friday 10/15. In the interim, I'm working on finishing my WIP's for 2 different spoilee's, AHH!, and also working on a test knit, which so far is turning out just beautiful.

More shares to come soon.. happy week everyone!

I'm feeling Ug'ish

I was at working at my LYS the other day and saw the cutest shop sample, a pair of slipper shoes. I've never made a pair before so I figured, why not?

I bought me the dark soles, and dug into my stash for some soft and luscious Malabrigo Worsted in color 259 Charrua, of which I purchased years ago at Imagiknit in S.F. Great yarn, one of my faves, and I do love the color combo. I pretty love any color paired with brown.

Check out this warm squishy "Ugz" as my hubby calls them.

Gearing up

It's that time of year, September, my most favorite time. It makes me smile just thinking about it, for this time of year is the start of the upcoming holidays and weather changes. I'll be sprucing up my home next week to reflect the change, switching to more fall'ish colors, browns, vibrant oranges, and lovely cinnamon scents.

I received a few kits from Woolgirl, I get all my kits from her, 2 are ones I signed up for, and one is from the Alice in Wonderland Sock Club, which thus far, I love.

Here is Caterpillar kit, from the Alice in Wonderland Sock Club installment

Resist not

I picked up the latest Interweave Knits Fall 2010 and quickly found 3 patterns I'm got on my knitting radar. One that I had to knit, is the Leitmotif Cardigan.

Leitmotif

I went with Fibernatura Mermaid yarn in Almond.

Fibernatura Mermaid - LeitMotif Cardigan

This cardi is knit lengthwise with an invisible cast on, the construction of the pattern also attracted me, it is a nice change from the typical top down or bottom up methods. So far I've got small headway.

Fibernatura Mermaid - LeitMotif Cardigan

I think the Mermaid yarn is going to be a great fit for this Cardi and the sheen on the yarn is extremely pretty. The yarn is a mix of 42% Cotton, 35% Superwash Merino, 12% Silk, 11% Seacell. It has a very nice feel and will do great with the cables. I'll keep you posted, for now I'll have to prepare for my week.

Happy Knitting all 8-)
