New Pair of Cranked Ankle Socks!

Since the move, all my yarn and projects, everything is packed, awaiting the development of my future office, for now it waits paitiently all boxed up.

I recently finished another project and was itching to start a new project but just couldn't muster up the task of digging thru the packed boxes to choose a yarn and I'm being careful on my budget, so no new yarns for me 8(, gosh is that hard to stick too.  It's an addiction, I swear!

Anyways, I got lucky, and before we moved, I had stashed a few projects in my beautiful Lantern Moon Flower Power Bag.  I choose to finish the Cranked socks I had started back in April 2011 for the Knit Purl Hunter KAL.  I don't remember why I didn't finish the socks back then, probably moved onto another project.

I picked these up again this past week and turned them into ankle socks.  I absolutely love ankle socks, and these came out with a perfect fit.

It's always nice to have a new pair of socks done.

It's Friday, Friday, Finally!

This week for whatever reasons has seemed to be one L  -  O  -  N  -  G drawn out week.  Not alot of knitting progress made this week, sadly, just a whirlwind of life's little presents.

Although, there have a been a few highlights to look forward too, received some new squishy lovelies to play with.

Yarn from Knitting Ranch

The two green skeins, from corner left are Shibui yarn in Staccato, and Silk Cloud.  These lovely skeins are were destined to be a pair of fingerless gloves; sample knit for the Knitting Ranch

I offered to knit these for Suzi, who also hosts a wonderful virutal kal!  Yes! That means I get to sit and knit from home and connect virtually with my other knitterly friends.   I part taked in my first session last Saturday morning.  The current virtual kal is for the Lacy Prairie shawl, for which the two other purple skeins in the picture above are destined for.  The skeins are A Verb for Keeping Warm in Hyacynth.   I'll share my progress on the shawl once I get to take some pictures.  A special thank you to my dearest friend Marisol for sharing this virtual kal.

For now I'll leave you with a very soon to be FO of the SusannaIC Mystery Shawl.  Almost done with this shawl, one clue left for this weekend.

Off and On

Off the needles, Vita Cardi,  ready to be blocked

I don't think I'll knit a belt as the pattern calls for.  I still may add some afterthought pockets, and even maybe even some buttons, but for now it's done.  At least to a point.

On the needles, Rock Island Shawl, using Kaaland Classic Two lace in Bushfire colorway.

That's 71 repeats of a 8 row chart, felt like it was never going to end! Oh and the yarn is luscious, even better it was a gift from Marisol as part of the Knitter's Treasure swap.  So glad I've finally got to use it.

Another one soon to be on the needles, Cerasifera shawl, as part of the Through The Loops Summer Shawl Kal.  Anyone can join the kal, only required to knit a shawl from the Through The Loops patterns by Kirsten.  Turn in FO pics by 9/23/11 to show completion and then prizes are given for various efforts 8).   Join on Ravelry in the TTL group.

Got plans for this coming weekend, looking forward to it, 3 day weekend 8) Enjoy!

Bag Lady

For the Socks that Rawk group, Q1 "Tina's Choice" KAL.

I knitted these on and off over the 3 months.  Just simply got distracted with other knitting and then of course life always calls too.

The heel portion adds a decent amount of length to the foot, originally I had about a size 7.5 sock, which is way too long for my little size 5.  I ripped back down to about 4.5 inches and started the heel again, this time it worked out perfectly, although I think if I were to use this version of heel, I'd go with maybe 4 inches to give it a more snug fit.

I was originally skeptical about having garter stitch toe and heel, but it's actually pretty comfortable.  The pattern simply ends at the leg portion, you just bind off in pattern, no cuff.  I did, however, try a version of a garter stitch cuff and didn't like it, so I ripped it out and went with the pattern instructions.

All and all I'm happy with them, another pair of socks to add to my ever growing sock wardrobe.

Quick note about the pictures, it was quite interesting contorting my body to get these pics.  Although the time I spent contorting did count as a small but always needed workout!

Pattern: Solstice Slip by JC Briar
Yarn: Socks that Rock - Lightweight "Bag Lady" colorway
Needles: US 1 (Addi Lace)
Started: January 16, 2011
Finished: March 28, 2011

Mods: Front (instep) stitches are 30, and the sole st’s are 25. I did this intentionally to make the sock fit snug, since my feet are small and narrow. At heel portion, increased to the 35 sts.  When done with the heel portion, the first round that starts the decreases (k2tog/ssk) I picked up all wrapped stitches on the first and last stitches that I did decreases on. This worked great and closing any holes.  I went with ankle socks instead of the traditional longer leg.

Zitron Trekking KAL Clue 1

Zitron Trekking KAL Socks, Clue 1 Zitron Trekking KAL Socks, Clue 1

Clue 1 release 01/01/11 --
Started one toe, didn’t like the way the KFB increases were looking on the seam/edge of the sides of the toe. A little too loose looking for me, and I’m atight knitter. Frogged first toe, and started another new toe, this time I did the following:

For KFB increases, I didn’t increase in the 1st st, I increased in the 2nd st at the beginning of an increase row. At the end of the increase row, I increased in the 2nd to the last stitch. This vastly helped in filling any loose holes.

At the beginning of every row, I’ve knit through the back loop. I have a real pet peeve for “in the round” knitting and the holes that you can get, so I usually try to do what I can to eliminate any holes.

All done with 1st clue, will await next clue in another week 8)

Now I'm off to knit something else!
